Important Notices Bengal Family Bulletin Home learn choice board.pdf 1461_001.pdf School Information VERY IMPORTANT INFO ABOUT OUR APPROACH TO HOMEWORK: There is significant research that shows homework in the elementary grades does not increase student achievement. Our students are being exposed to rigorous standards and work all day long while at school. We believe homework should be limited so that students have a chance to be kids, interact with their family, and participate in community activities, which all directly relate to student achievement. We are promoting reading, practicing math facts, and writing for homework but most importantly, we are promoting family time. Please note, some classrooms will be sending home skills practice pages for students to complete as a review, at their level. As always, please communicate with your child's teacher if you have any questions or concerns with your child's homework. We hope you will join us in this promotion and take the time to play ball with your children, have them help you make dinner, go on a bike ride, read to them, play card games, and just enjoy each other. We hope you will join us in promoting kids being kids and family time. SAFETY FIRST! Parents are reminded of the need for student safety during drop-off and pick-up times, especially since parking at is sometimes a challenge. Your cooperation is essential in keeping both students and adults safe. When dropping students off in the front parking lot, please pull through and drop off quickly. We also ask that parents observe the “Loading Zone - No Parking” rule in the area where buses drop off and pick up. FOR THE SAFETY OF ALL OUR STUDENTS, do not leave your vehicle unattended in the loading zone. You may stay in your vehicle while waiting for your child. That way, vehicles left unattended do not block other vehicles from entering the loading zone. We also discourage parents from dropping students off across the street. Dropping your child off on the same side of the street as the school will make it safer for everyone. If you find it necessary to park across the street, please get out and walk your child safely across the street. Remember to leave the handicapped spaces available to those who are authorized to park there. Finally, please DO NOT drop off your students before 7:55am. We appreciate your patience and understanding in making the parking lots safe for students and parents.
